CenterPointe Hospital of Columbia today announced the launch of the first complete Wireless Environment of Care™ in an inpatient behavioral health facility — powered by TAGCarts’ patented TAG-X® Smart Rail wireless charging infrastructure and Trio® Powered by TAG-X® Workstation Carts. The implementation, operational since March 2026, has eliminated power cords from nurse workstation carts in the hospital’s Adolescent Wing, removing a documented ligature hazard and eliminating more than 3,000 contamination touch points per cart per year.

To commemorate this milestone, CenterPointe Hospital will host a public innovation showcase on October 22, 2026, open to behavioral health leaders, nursing executives, facility planners, clinical operations teams, and regional healthcare stakeholders from across Missouri and beyond.

FEATURED HIGHLIGHTS

▶ Independent Research Announcement — CenterPointe Observational Clinical Study led by Dian Baker, PhD, APRN-BC, PNP, of DB Consulting. Validated instruments: NASA Task Load Index, System Usability Scale, and Clinician Satisfaction Scale.

▶ Live Technology Demonstrations — TAG-X® Smart Rail and Trio® Powered by TAG-X® Workstation Carts, live in Treatment Room 600, Adolescent Wing — in active clinical use since March 2026.

▶ Behavioral Health Safety Innovation — The only mobile workstation solution that simultaneously eliminates ligature risk from power cords and removes weaponizable swappable batteries from inpatient behavioral health environments. #BHReady.

▶ Executive Collaboration — Hosted with participation from CenterPointe Hospital C-Suite, Acadia Healthcare, Capsa Healthcare, Inpro Corporation, WiBotic, and regional healthcare stakeholders.

BY THE NUMBERS

• 3,000+ Touch Points Eliminated / Cart / Year

• 100% Nurse Satisfaction

• 0 Power Cords in the Adolescent Wing

• ✅ TJC + CMS Compliant

• The Joint Commission (TJC) requires hospitals to conduct annual ligature risk assessments in behavioral health environments and mitigate identified hazards

• CMS Conditions of Participation (42 CFR §482.13) mandate safe environments free from abuse hazards

• Power cords on workstation carts are documented ligature hazards AND tripping hazards in patient care areas

• Swappable batteries are weaponizable — a known risk in BH inpatient settings

THE TRANSFORMATION: FROM WIRED TO WIRELESS

Since March 2026, CenterPointe Hospital has eliminated power cords from its nurse workstation carts in the Adolescent Wing. Carts charge wirelessly by parking against the TAG-X® Smart Rail mounted on the corridor wall — removing a documented ligature hazard, eliminating thousands of contamination touch points per year, and supporting compliance with The Joint Commission and CMS environmental safety standards.

The TAG-X® Smart Rail transforms the wall rails already found in every hospital corridor into wireless charging infrastructure, requiring no new electrical work or structural modification. Workstation carts charge simply by parking against the wall — ending the need for plug-in charging, extension cords, or swappable battery packs in sensitive clinical environments.
